Bedside US in the Evaluation of Sepsis & Fluid Responsiveness (43:57)

The new definition of sepsis (aka "Sepsis 3.0") as well as Center for Medicare Services sepsis bundle have been unveiled. Dr. Alan Chiem from Olive View-UCLA Medical Center will use clinical vignettes to discuss the new definition of sepsis, the proposed methods to assess fluid responsiveness, and how ultrasound may be used in the management of these patients. Dr. Chiem will specifically focus on the nuts and bolts of performing these ultrasound-based techniques, as well as how to perform a passive leg raise. Webinar Goals and Objectives: 1. To review the new definition of sepsis and septic shock, as well as the new CMS sepsis bundle. 2. To discuss the concept of fluid responsiveness in sepsis, and how this applies to management. 3. To discuss how ultrasound can be used to assess for fluid responsiveness in septic patients.
