      Dr. Pierre Kory is Chief, Critical Care Service at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, and Faculty at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Madison WI. This webinar will review of the need for prompt diagnosis of lower extremity thromboembolic disease in the Acute Care environment (incidence/prevalence). Detailed explanation of the proximal femoral, venous anatomy; popliteal vein and the technique for performing the ultrasound examination will be explored. Additionally, Dr. Kory will review evidence supporting the accuracy of incorporating the compression technique vs. ultrasound technologies, and review evidence supporting the accuracy of focused trained ICU and ED physicians to perform the ultrasound examination.
