Dr. Robert Arntfield is an Assistant Professor, Director of Critical Care Ultrasound / Division of Critical Care & Division of Emergency Medicine, Department of Medicine, Western University London, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Arntfield will explore case examples to highlight the value of both basic visual assessments and more sophisticated Doppler techniques when performing echocardiography to guide resuscitation. Upon the completion of the webinar, the participant will be able to: 1. Appreciate that a visual assessment alone can satisfy the majority of important clinical questions in high-stakes resuscitation. 2. Identify scenarios where a more quantitative approach using spectral Doppler, may offer an advantage over visual assessment. 3. Identify commonly referenced quantitative approaches that confer little additional benefit for the resuscitative echocardiographer.
