The presentation will cover the value of ultrasound-guided cannulation; and evidence and recommendations for using ultrasound to increase clinician confidence, reduce patient anxiety, and decrease risks of adverse events during the cannulation process.

He will describe the basic physics of ultrasonography; interpret a dynamic ultrasound image of a human arm and identify arteries, veins, nerves, subcutaneous tissue, fascia and bone; and insert an IV catheter into a “phantom” arm successfully using ultrasound.
