Davinder Ramsingh, MD, Director of Perioperative Ultrasound and Clinical Research, Department of Anesthesiology at Loma Linda Medical Center will discuss perioperative point-of-care ultrasound with a focus on airway management, and how point-of-care ultrasound can help facilitate the identification and localization of the endotracheal tube within the trachea. He will review background information on endotracheal intubation, define point-of-care ultrasound, and relate this information to case studies. He will also discuss the FORESIGHT examination.

Gregory V. Hickman, MD, Medical Director and Anesthesia Director from the Andrews Institute, ASC discusses the "Hickman Flip" approach for interscalene catheter placement, and the benefits and his success with this approach. Dr. Hickman also lists the indications for using interscalene block and catheters and explains how to use point-of-care ultrasound to identify anatomy and assist with the procedure.

Phil Booth, RN, MSN, MICN, CEN is an Emergency Room nurse with 40 years of experience. He will present this webinar on Ultrasound-guided Peripheral IV Insertion. He will describe the basic physics of ultrasonography; interpret a dynamic ultrasound image of a human arm and identify arteries, veins, nerves, subcutaneous tissue, fascia and bone; and insert an IV catheter into a “phantom” arm successfully using ultrasound.

Dr. Sachita Shah, Associate Professor, Division of Emergency Medicine, Department of Medicine, University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle WA will discuss the use of a novel cardiopulmonary ultrasound protocol for use in patients presenting with undifferentiated dyspnea in resource-limited settings. The webinar will provide information on prevalent causes of dyspnea with comparison of low/middle and high income countries, and how ultrasound can be used to improve diagnostic capacity at the bedside.

Dr. Nishant Shah, Department of Anesthesiology Affiliation Park Ridge Anesthesiology Associates – Division of Midwest Anesthesia Partners will provide an overview of the Transversus Abdominal Plane (TAP) blockade that will describe the relevant and necessary anatomy while teaching one how to perform the procedure under ultrasound guidance. Dr. Russ Horowitz is the Director, Emergency and Critical Care Ultrasound at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. This webinar will allow the learner to use point-of-care ultrasound to search for and diagnosis three (3) abdominal pathologies common in pediatrics: intussusception, appendicitis, and pyloric stenosis. The scanning techniques along with tips and pitfalls will be discussed for each condition.

Dr. Theresa Bowling will present this webinar which is designed to teach the participants how to perform an ultrasound-guided thoracic paravertebral single shot nerve block and catheter placement. The relevant gross and ultrasound anatomy will be discussed and will include ultrasound video tutorials for needle and catheter placement. Indication and contraindications for performing this block will be discussed in detail. Pertinent literature supporting this block for anesthesia and analgesia will be also be presented.

The new definition of sepsis (aka "Sepsis 3.0") as well as Center for Medicare Services sepsis bundle have been unveiled. Dr. Alan Chiem from Olive View-UCLA Medical Center will use clinical vignettes to discuss the new definition of sepsis, the proposed methods to assess fluid responsiveness, and how ultrasound may be used in the management of these patients.
